Privacy Policy
We run no ad tracking, no analytics, and no marketing cookies, and payment card details never reach us. This policy describes what we do collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and who else is involved.
1. What we collect, and why
Support correspondence
If you write to support@talkingscientistventures.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message — which may include order numbers, screenshots, and details about the product and setup you’re using. We use it to answer you, to fix the problem you reported, and to keep a record of what was reported and resolved. We keep correspondence for as long as we need it to handle the matter and as an ordinary business record of that support history.
Release-notification requests
If you ask us to tell you when a product ships, we keep your email address and your request until we’ve sent that notice or you tell us to stop, whichever comes first. We use it for that notice, not for a marketing list.
Product ideas and feedback
If you write to us describing your work, your tools, or something you wish existed, we may use that message to inform what we build. We keep such messages with the rest of our correspondence, as described above.
Order records from marketplaces
When you buy one of our products through a marketplace or payment platform, that platform shares order details with us — typically your name or username, the item purchased, the order number, and the date. Card details are not included. We use order records to deliver the product, to handle support and refund requests, and to keep the transaction records that tax and business law require us to keep. We keep them for as long as those legal record-keeping obligations run.
Server logs
Like nearly every website, our web server records basic technical logs: IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We use them to keep the site running and secure, and they are deleted on the hosting provider’s standard rotation schedule.
This site sets no tracking cookies, runs no analytics scripts, and serves no advertising. If our practices change, we’ll update this policy before they do.
2. What we don’t collect
- Payment details. Purchases run through third-party marketplaces and payment platforms — currently our Etsy shop. They process your payment under their own privacy policies; card numbers never reach us, because we operate no checkout of our own.
- Behavioral or advertising data. We don’t track you across the web, build advertising profiles, or buy or sell personal data.
3. Third parties, and their roles
- Marketplaces and payment platforms you buy through (currently Etsy) collect and process your data under their own privacy policies, as independent businesses — not on our instructions. They share order details (not card details) with us so we can deliver and support the product.
- Our email provider (Google Workspace) hosts our support mailbox as a service provider, so our correspondence with you passes through and is stored on its systems.
- Our web host (DreamHost) serves this site as a service provider and generates the server logs described above. This site loads its two fonts from Google Fonts, which involves your browser requesting the font files from Google’s servers; Google’s privacy policy applies to those requests.
We don’t share personal information with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
4. Your choices and rights
If you’ve corresponded with us and want your messages deleted, email support@talkingscientistventures.com and we’ll delete what we can. Two qualifications apply: we keep records the law requires us to keep (for example, transaction and tax records tied to an order), and copies may persist in our providers’ routine backups until those backups expire on the providers’ own schedules. Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights over your personal data; write to the same address to exercise them, and we’ll respond.
5. Children
Our products and this site are for businesses and working adults, not children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.
6. Changes
If our practices change — for instance, if we ever add analytics — we’ll update this policy first and change the effective date at the top. The current version always lives at this address.
